Elisabeth Baudinaud

Founder and Principal

Elisabeth is the founder and principal of Carbon Wise. After working in the Energy Efficiency field for years, she noted that there was a missing piece to how we build our homes: Embodied Emissions. She believes that buildings can not only be efficient, healthy, and beautiful, but also helpful to reverse climate change.

Elisabeth is an inspirational leader who takes a vision and makes it reality through sound strategy development. Carbon Wise is the result of her passion and desire to find tangible solutions for design teams that strive to make a positive impact.

Outside of Carbon Wise, Elisabeth is a Senior Community Energy Manager with the Community Energy Association and guides communities through bold and globally impactful climate action. She also volunteers with the Carbon Leadership Forum – Vancouver Hub to empower industry professionals to radically reduce embodied carbon from buildings and infrastructure.

Cameron Lockhart

Senior Energy Advisor

After spending over 10 years in the trades, Cameron transitioned his career to becoming an Energy Advisor servicing both existing homes and new construction projects. Becoming an Energy Advisor aligned with Cameron’s ambitions and educational experiences. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria, and a Master’s of Science in Sustainable Development from the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands.

Passionate about climate action, Cameron has sharpened his skills as an NRCan Energy Advisor, helping clients reduce operational emissions through Energy Efficiency measures, for many years. He joined Carbon Wise to go even further. At Carbon Wise, Cameron contributes to the development of practices that recognize and minimize Embodied Carbon, while continuing to strive for greater operational efficiency. Cameron believes that only by focusing on the analysis of the full lifecycle of buildings and all their material components, can we understand how to best push the envelope for a more sustainable world.

Cameron’s motivation for ensuring that the planet stays comfortable and enjoyable for future generations relates strongly to his appreciation for his wife and two small children. Together, they enjoy going hiking and camping around the many beautiful natural wilderness areas that surround us and that they wish to preserve.

James Gerwat

Energy Advisor

Following several years working in sales in the construction industry, James decided to take a leap and train to become an Energy Advisor, combining his experience as a consultant, knowledge of the local industry, and passion for sustainability.

James holds a master’s degree in environmental geoscience from the University of London and has spent the last couple of years working on both new and existing homes, providing sound technical advice to builders, architects, and homeowners on how to improve operational efficiency and meet required energy efficiency targets.

James joined Carbon Wise because he understands there is more that needs to be done to make our homes and communities truly sustainable. This means looking beyond just operational efficiencies and more at the bigger picture including life cycle analysis and embodied emissions. He is determined to be a part of driving change and progress in the industry.

In his free time James is a dog lover, music lover always looking for his next excuse to get out of the city.

Carbon Wise is always looking for smart, passionate, talented people to join our team to help us grow.
